The way you look towards nature the same way nature will care for you. The plastic is very dreadful as it is not decomposable. India’s Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative includes marine resources as a key pillar, and the country supports France’s initiative for a “High Ambition Coalition on Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction,” it said.

“We expect a legally binding international treaty before the end of this year. India has committed to eliminating single-use plastic,” minister added.

Organized by France in collaboration with the United Nations and the World Bank, the One Ocean Summit aims to mobilize the global community to take concrete action to preserve and support sustainable marine ecosystems.

Macron hopes to get “ambitious promises” from a group of more than 40 countries, business people and multinationals during the One Ocean Summit. Several initiatives will be flung during the summit on marine ecosystems, sustainable fishing, pollution, particularly from plastics, climate change and improving ocean management.

India-France ties on the Single-use Plastic

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that India has committed to eliminating single-use plastic and would like to join France in launching a global initiative on the issue. Modi made the comments in a video message to the high-level segment of One Ocean Summit.

“India recently launched a nationwide awareness campaign to remove plastic and other debris from coastal areas. Three lakh youths have collected almost 13 tons of plastic waste. I have also directed our Navy to contribute 100 sailing days this year to remove plastic debris from the oceans. India will happily join France in launching a global initiative on single-use plastics,” he said.India-France ties on the Single-use Plastic

In his speech, Prime Minister Modi said that India has always been a naval civilization and India’s ancient scriptures and literature speak of the bounty of the oceans, including marine life.

“Today, our security and success are tied to the oceans. India’s Indo-Pacific Initiative includes marine resources as a key pillar. India supports the French initiative for an ambitious coalition on biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction. We expect a legally binding international agreement by this year,” he said. The prime minister said that India has committed to eliminating single-use plastic. The summit is being organized by France from February 9-11 in Brest, in collaboration with the United Nations and the World Bank.

How tiny plastic particles are polluting Nature?

The millions of tons of plastic floating in the world’s oceans have attracted a lot of media attention of late. But plastic pollution arguably poses a greater threat to the plants and animals, including humans, that live on earth.

Very little of the plastic we throw away every day is recycled or incinerated. Much of it sums up in landfills, where it can take up to thousand years to decompose, leaching hypothetically toxic substances into the soil and water.

Researchers in Germany warn that the effects of microplastics in soil, sediment, and freshwater could negatively affect these ecosystems in the long term. They say that terrestrial microplastic pollution is much higher than marine microplastic pollution, estimated to be between four and 23 times, depending on the setting.

The researchers conclude that while the results have so far done little research in this area, they are worrisome: plastic fragments are present virtually everywhere in the world and can trigger many kinds of harmful effects.

Conclusion

Rajkotupdates.news: PM Modi India happy to join single-use plastics in the global initiative. The government has made many plans to work with people and the leaders of the country. However, the global initiative will help in removing plastic from many areas. It will help people in contributing on a large scale towards nature.
